ALBANY, N.Y. -- It's a celebration of all things local. The Honest Weight Food Co-op held its first annual Local Harvest Festival Sunday in Washington Park along with Capital District Local First and Metroland in an effort to emphasize buying and eating locally.

Those in attendance had a chance to sample the creations of local growers, bakers and artisans. One representative from the co-op says it's an event to follow up an eat-local challenge the organization issued to consumers back in August.

"So, we had this great idea to do this eat local challenge and then we decided well, we want to culminate it in something really special and what better way to culminate an eat local challenge than doing a harvest festival where it's really about celebrating the local,” said Mariah Dahl, Honest Weight Food Co-op Outreach Coordinator.

Attendees also had the opportunity to enjoy a live cooking demonstration, live music, and other fun activities for kids.
