GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. -- Health care workers are no being longer forced to get the H1N1 vaccine, but some still want it.

Nathan Littauer Hospital began a volunteer H1N1 flu shot clinic on Thursday and already 10 percent of the workers have been vaccinated.

On Thursday, New York State Health Commissioner Richard Daines lifted the mandate that every health care worker receive the H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccinations. Some health workers feel in their line of work it's essential to get the vaccine.

In a show of support for the vaccination, even Nathan Littauer's CEO received the shot.

"I think health care workers in the large majority understand that the flu shot is great protection for themselves, and as a health care worker it's a great protection for the patients they're going to take care of," said CEO Laurence Kelly.

Any health care worker can get the vaccine at the hospital while supplies last. So far, about 100 employees have been vaccinated.
