GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y.-- It's like a 5-star hotel suit with a jacuzzi tub, flat screen TV, and a sofa that converts into a bed. But if you want to stay here you must meet one requirement.
It's only for mothers-to-be. The room is part of Nathan Littauer Hospital's new birthing center. The unit is designed as a spa-like setting, to pamper expecting mothers through the life changing process.
"I saw one of the rooms, and it's very soothing, very homey, and I think it's going to be a really nice place to have this experience in," said expecting mother Alexandra Ruggeri.
The birthing center cost more than 1 million dollars to built. The center has three labor and delivery rooms and 7 postpartum rooms as well.
"This has been a very long time coming. We have been planning this for a few years, about five years actually, and finished the design and the layout about a year ago and started building in June," said hospital president, Larry Kelly.
And as new moms wait for the big day, managers at Nathan Littauer only hope to make their journey, as well as their little one's, as comfortable as possible.
