SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- A Schenectady man is facing multiple felony counts of animal cruelty after police said he killed two dogs and left a third with severe burns.
Thomas Hendricks, 28, is accused of killing two dachshunds by drowning one and hitting another with a pool cue. He's also accused of holding a toy poodle under scalding water and pulling the hair from her legs.
Investigators said the alleged incidents happened at 122 Front Street on three separate occasions in December and January.
In addition to the animal cruelty counts, Hendricks also faces charges of misdemeanor menacing for allegedly punching one of the dog's owners in the head and threatening to do her further harm.
Hendricks was arraigned in Schenectady City Court.
The Schenectady County SPCA is assisting in the investigation.
Hendricks met with the media Tuesday night at a Schenectady fast food restaurant and repeatedly denied the charges against him.
Hendricks says he would never hurt his wife or animals.
"No, no I didn't do any of those things right there. My dog is in the house. Ok? My dog is in the house. I didn't torture no dog. I didn't kill the dog. The dog is in the house. I didn't kill no dog," Hendricks said.
Hendricks also says he's hiring an attorney and that his wife made the story up.
