GREENE COUNTY, N.Y. -- Skiers and riders at Windham Mountain worked to make their way into the history books, or at least into the Guinness Record books. They worked to make the longest torch-lit parade.
All participants had to finish the race in order to be counted. The current record stands at 624 people held by Portugal. That record was accomplished last month, but after this event, it appears their reign was short lived.
"It was really exciting. There are about a thousand of us up there, really cold, but lots of energy and it was really exciting," said Rye resident Ed Tolley.
At the end of the event, each participant signed a log in sheet for the Guinness Book of World Records to rule on the record breaking attempt.
