GUILDERLAND, N.Y. -- Organizers of the Coffee Party say they're trying to serve up a new political movement. The party held kick off events all across the US on Saturday to draw attention to their cause.

The grass-roots movement was started just a few short weeks ago as an alternative to the Tea Party. The group was formed on the social-networking website Facebook and already has more than 120,000 members.

Some local Coffee Party members gathered in Guilderland to call for more civility in politics and accountability from politicians.

"Today we have just interested citizens who want to see the gridlock end in Washington and Albany, who want to see an end to the wrangling and name-calling and the animosity and come together in civil discourse to form a consensus,” said Colin Abele, Coffee Party member.

The Coffee Party accepts members regardless of political affiliation or ideas.
