SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- It's Connect a Million Minds Week and it's going on at Time Warner Cable offices all over the country.

Connect a Million Minds is a five year, $100 million initiative to address America's declining proficiency in science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM. Time Warner Cable hopes to inspire students to develop their STEM skills so they can become the problem solvers of tomorrow.

In Schenectady, at Time Warner Cable's Highbridge Road office, young people from around the Capital Region got a firsthand look at cutting edge technology and learned about the mysteries and science of cable television.

"The kids seem to be having a great time. The experiments were done to actual science curriculum standards in production by PhD's who work for Time Warner Cable, education specialists designed to engage the students and make science studies fun," said Michael Bucci.

Students from the Albany Academies, Girls Inc. and the Union College-YMCA Science Technology Entry Program participated in Wednesday's Connect a Million Minds event.

Time Warner Cable is the parent company of YNN.
