SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Celebrators line the streets of the Spa City for the Giving Circle's fourth annual Saratoga's Spring Mardi Gras Festival.
Beekman Street looked more like Bourbon Street Saturday when it was transformed into an arts and entertainment festival complete with a parade and Cajun-Cook Off.
The theme of this year's Mardi Gras is community service and volunteerism and the organization who put it all together is doing all they can to help out on the local and international level.
“We're building an orphanage in Uganda called the Koi Koi House. Nationally, we're still doing work with our sister city of Waveland, Mississippi and locally we're working with organizations like the Elks Club, franklin Community Center and Saratoga EOC,” said Ron Deutsch, President of the Giving Circle.
The festival raised money for the Mississippi city that was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina and for SCEOC's Latino Community Advocacy Program.
