SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place Wednesday in honor of a new employment training classroom.

The Schenectady Community Action Program is for individuals who have interest in the health care field or for those who are already working in health care. The training allows the less fortunate to advance their careers.

One student said SCAP will help her live out her dreams.

Student Patti Clark said, "I want to further my education. I hope to learn my CNA skills and go onto LPA school. SCAP has given me the opportunity to go somewhere I could not have gone without their help. "

Director of Employment Services Chari Jones said, "A series of trainings to assist them in learning how to get the job and keep the job. Then from our training they move onto the college to earn a certificate."

The funding for the classroom was made possible by the Wright family foundation. The program also received a public grant.
