ALBANY, N.Y. -- It's call Operation Peace and Silence as Albany police look to make the streets a little quieter.

It's a month long initiative thanks to an excessive number of noise complaints. Police have put up signs in the city to remind residents to keep it down and respect your neighbors. In two weeks, police will start handing out tickets.

"We've had a number of complaints from citizens about unnecessary or unusual noise. From vehicles that are blasting music outta them, house parties, as well as taxi cabs sounding the horn repeatedly. There are restrictions to that, general city ordinance," said Albany Police Spokesman James Miller.

If police give you a ticket, you could face a $250 fine and up to 15 days in jail.
