SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Police are resuming their search for a missing Saratoga County woman, who is the wife of a state trooper. Cynthia Gavitt has not been seen or heard from since last Friday morning.
Police found her car on Saturday in a parking lot in Halfmoon. Since then, they have been searching the area for any leads. Gavitt is married to administrative Captain William Gavitt, who is stationed out of Troop G.
State Police say Cynthia has been suffering from severe physical health problems for the last year.
"Our people have doubled their efforts. Captain Gavitt is widely respected. Our investigation has confirmed what many of us already know, that Cynthia Gavitt is well loved by her family, and liked and respected by all her friends and acquaintances," said Major William Sprague, State Police.
Police have conducted aerial and ground searches, and divers are searching the Mohawk River with a sidescan sonar.
