SCHOHARIE, N.Y. -- It's been six months since Tropical Storm Irene and remnants of Lee made their way through Upstate New York. Now there may finally be a light at the end of the tunnel for those still suffering in Schoharie and Green counties.

Schoharie Area Long Term Recovery Organizations - or "S.A.L.T." - has launched a new initiative to help raise funds in order to provide an update on the work that has been accomplished since the storms hit. It's called the Green Ribbon Campaign.

Green ribbons will be available for purchase with all proceeds going to the research done by the Green Shirt volunteers from the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee.

S.A.L.T. Volunteer Committee Chairman Brian Kaiser said, "They will be conducting door to door campusing as well as setting up some walk-in centers where those impacted by the disasters can come in and register their needs. And then it is our hope that that they will be bring in some of their construction teams later this summer to actually begin to help in restoration work here in Schoharie and Green County."

If you would like to purchase a green ribbon to support the program, you can do so at many businesses throughout Schoharie and Green counties.
