SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- The 2012 March for Babies kicked off in Schenectady Sunday.

Close to 500 people gathered at Schenectady Community College for the three mile walk.

Organizers brought in lunch for walkers, and some family friendly activities for after the walk. GE collaborated with the March of Dimes to sponsor this year's walk.

The March for Babies is the March of Dimes' premier fundraising event. The goal of the organization is to improve the overall health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
