Man arraigned on charges after child abducted

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The man who police said abducted his ex-girlfriend's son has been arraigned on charges in Albany City Court.

Angel Valle, 22, was arrested at his Cohoes apartment Monday night, a few hours after an Amber Alert was issued.

Police said Valle picked up Jose Estrada, 5, from Public School 16 on North Allen Street in Albany around 3 p.m. Monday, shortly after Jose's mother, Jennifer Estrada, broke up with him. Valle refused to return the child to his mother until she met with him to talk things over.

Valle pleaded not guilty to unlawful imprisonment, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and endangering the welfare of a child. He is being held on $25,000 bail.

The child is back with his mother and was unharmed in the incident.
