Drivers filled up for $0.85 a gallon
GLENVILLE, N.Y. -- You weren't seeing things if you happened to pass the Glenville Mobil Mart Saturday. E85 Flex Fuel really was selling for 85 cents a gallon. The sale lasted for 85 minutes. It was part of an effort to help educate the public about alternative fuels.
E85 is a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. New York State and automaker GM pitched in to assist the Mobil Mart's installation of the E85 pumps.
"With the generous help of General Motors today, we were able to run a promotion E85 for 85 cents for 85 minutes. E85 flex fuel generally sells for a dollar less than gasoline. You get a little less mileage but it is a win win all the way around," said ownder Steve Weekes.
