Stomping out homelessness in Albany
ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless tried an interesting approach to raise awareness for its cause on Thursday. Clients, staff and other community members all gathered to dance the Cha-Cha Slide in a symbolic effort to "stomp out" homelessness.

Albany County Executive Michael Breslin, Albany County District Attorney David Soares and Councilman Corey Ellis all joined in on the fun. While the event itself was lighthearted, the issue at hand is an important one to raise awareness on.

Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless Executive Director Janine Robitaille said, "I think that people are not aware of really what goes on in the City of Albany and how many homeless there are. In our one shelter alone, we serve 350 people a year."

Organizers said it wasn't the best day for the event because of the rain, but it was a great reminder of what kind of conditions homeless people face everyday. Interfaith has offered several services for the homeless in Albany for the last 24 years.
