ALBANY, N.Y. -- There was an unusual sight Saturday at Crossgates Mall. Darth Vader and other costumed members of the Star Wars galaxy volunteered to help raise money for the Salvation Army.

Characters from the 501st legion's Garrison Excelsior rang bells as part of the annual Red Kettle Campaign. The group is a professional costuming group that constructs costumes from the Star Wars movies.

There were photo opportunities with the characters as well.
