Police chase ends when driver crashes into police cruiser
TROY, N.Y. -- A Menands man is in custody after police say he lead them on a car chase through three jurisdictions and crashed into a police cruiser.

Troy Police say it happened at 4 a.m. Police say they tried pulling over a Ryder Rental truck because lift gate was down and the dragging was creating sparks.

The driver of the truck, Kenneth Tyree, 23, didn't pull over- and led police on an 11 minute chase, which ended after Tyree rammed a patrol car on 21st street in Watervliet.

"At the termination of the chase in Watervliet, Tyree was tased by a Watervliet officer. So obviously he was acting very dangerous and erratic, and we believe his motivation was the parole warrant and the other warrants,” said Sgt. David Dean, Troy Police spokesman.

Police say Tyree was wanted on a NYS Parole warrant and two others out of Troy and Watervliet; both of those were failure to appear on charges.

Tyree is now being charged with a laundry list of charges including unlawfully fleeing the police and DWI. No one was injured in the chase or crash.

He was arraigned in court Saturday morning. Tyree is being held without bail at the Rensselaer County Jail.
