Soldiers' moms get flowers for Mother's Day
CAPITAL REGION -- Many moms across the state are going to be away from their sons or daughters this Mother's Day because they are fighting for our country in Iraq and Afghanistan. But that doesn't mean the soldiers can't send their moms flowers for the holiday.

Thanks to a statewide program, soldiers were given the chance to say I love you to their moms. Here in the Capital Region, Frank Gallo Florist is taking part in the program.

The owner said it's a nice feeling knowing he can do a little part in bringing soldiers overseas closer to their moms.

"They had an opportunity in their barracks, whether it be in the Middle East, Afghanistan, to sign up for this program. So they provided us with a name and address and a personalized card, and I can tell you, the deliveries we've done so far, the response has been really good."

The program was started by a downstate florist.
