Junior League of Albany hosts imagination library
ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Junior League of Albany supported children's literacy with a family-fun day in Washington Park. Children sang, danced and listened to stories in the park before picking up books to bring home.
It was part of an event meant to raise awareness for the JLA's "Imagination Library".
Dolly Parton founded the Imagination Library in Tennessee and it has since successfully spread throughout the US, Canada and England.

"Oh it's been really great. The kids have had a great time. They've been getting free books. They listened to Andy 'The Music Man' Morse. We had the Tulip Queen here reading to the kids earlier so they're having a really fun time,” said Felice Devine, Junior League of Albany President.
The reading initiative is set to begin in September. Kids who register for the program will receive one free book a month from the organization.
All children under five years old are eligible, and so far, 100 children have signed up.
