HERKIMER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The villages of Herkimer and Mohawk began the healing process Thursday night, following two frightening days of violence.

A couple hundred people braved the cold temperatures at Weller Park for a candlelight vigil to honor and pray for the four men who were shot to death Wednesday and two others who were injured.

The event was organized by a high school student in a matter of hours. Her friends and community members helped get the word out via social media. They hoped this would bring both communities even closer.

"We're not just a community. We're one big family. We need to pull together to get through this, to move on. We shouldn't have to be afraid," vigil organizer Frieda Watkins said.

If you would like to watch the vigil, it is posted in its entirety below.
