Seven years ago, her brother died in a drunk driving accident. Monday, police say Chelsea Breen crashed her own car while drunk. Erin Vannella has more.

COLONIE, N.Y. -- "Her brother was killed, a passenger in a car driven by another individual who served two and a third to seven in state prison," said Choices 301 Director Ed Frank. "Her message was clear. Don't drink and drive. Have a plan. How ironic."

At 4 a.m. Monday, Colonie police found Chelsea Breen's car crashed into a tree outside her Valley View apartment. She survived.

"We did give some sobriety tests and she failed those tests and was arrested for driving while intoxicated," said Colonie Police Lieutenant Robert Winn.

Seven years ago her older brother Ansen died in a drunk driving crash. Since then Breen has warned against driving drunk on victim impact panels. Coordinators say her arrest is disappointing.

"We worked very closely with Ms. Breen and it's sad," said Albany County Stop DWI Lieutenant Kerry Thompson. It's really sad this happened.

Breen even helped make this display at Choices 301, an anti-drunk driving effort in Altamont--580 shoes belonging to New York State drunk driving victims. Frank says she's lucky her shoes won't be added.

"When is enough, enough?" said Frank. "As the signs ask, how many tears will it take? How many hearts will it break?"

Breen is being charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI, operating a motor vehicle while using a portable device and unlawful possession of marijuana. She was scheduled to speak at a victims impact panel March 26th. She'll appear instead in court on Wednesday.
