Conners addresses problems with county nursing homes
Albany County nursing homes are consistently getting poor performance ratings. And county Comptroller Michael Conners says things need to change.

At a news conference, Conners addressed the performance reviews, as well as problems with plans to build a new 528-bed nursing home. He says a new, larger nursing home isn't the answer.

Instead, he thinks smaller nursing homes should be built near one of Albany's many hospitals.

Conners said, "We gotta be honest with ourselves. We have to admit there's real problems at the nursing home, and we've all failed in the county, all of us, the exec, the legislature, the comptroller, all of us."

Conners said outside experts need to be brought in to fix the problems.
