If you or your children have a fascination with animals or science and nature, a career in veterinary medicine might be for you. To become a veterinarian you need good grades, a strong work ethic and a thirst for knowledge.

DVM Frank Capella tells us more about the how the Veterinary Hall of Health at the Great New York State Fair can be a great place to learn about practicing veterinary medicine.

"We hope to provide to anyone who may have an interest in veterinary medicine a glimpse of everything that goes into being a veterinarian. Slowly over the last ten years the exhibit has morphed into that. We can take what you or your animal might experience at a typical vet visit and lay it out here for you to experience. We have veterinarians on the floor who can explain everything," said Dr. Capella.

Becoming a veterinarian generally takes four years of college and an additional four years of post graduated studies and then passing the State Board exam with continuing education throughout your career.

Being a DVM isn't your only option. Vet technicians, lab technicians and even pharmaceuticals sales can all be great careers for those who want to merge their love for animals and science with a rewarding career.
