Guinness Book Augmented Reality
As it is the Guinness Book of World Records is wild, crazy, scary, so what could possibly make it even more those adjectives? Augmented reality. Download the free Guinness Book Augmented Reality app then point your phone at a handful of pages inside the 2013 edition of the book, pages with this "see it in 3d" sign, and parts of those records will pop out for you to interact with: A shark, the world's smallest helicopter, even help the basketball shooting parrot sink a few. There's a camera in the app so that you can get in the shot and have someone else take your picture with the virtual record holder. The Guinness Book Augmented Reality app is free and works on iOS and Android devices. The 2013 Guinness Book of World Records is out now for about $20.
ESRB Digital Content Ratings
The ESRB, Entertainment Software Rating Board, is the non-profit self-regulatory body for the video game industry that gives ratings to video games you know E for everyone , T for teen, M for mature. Well now, it's unveiling new ratings for digitally downloaded content that offers up lots more information on what you're buying. This includes titles downloaded on gaming consoles, handhelds, computers, smartphones and tablets. In addition to rating content for age appropriateness, you'll be able to drill down to find out information on interactive elements like whether the software shares your personal information with third parties, shares your location, or offers online interaction with others meaning some unfiltered, not so kid-friendly language can get in there. For more information on the new ratings system or to look up games you have or are interested in buying head over to ESRB.org.
