ESSEX COUNTY, N.Y. -- The replacement Lake Champlain Bridge linking New York and Vermont will be the star of a celebration this weekend. The span opened in November, but organizers decided to hold off until now to hold the two-day event.
The man who designed the new bridge will give the keynote address at the opening ceremony. Many events will be held at the Crown Point State Historic site, with more taking place on the Vermont side of the bridge.
The original Lake Champlain Bridge was demolished at the end of 2009 after being deemed unsafe.
