SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Schenectady police want to alert the public to a series of burglaries that have taken place on the north side of the city.
Between August 1st and the 19th, 18 burglaries have been reported and police think they're all related.
The burglaries have been reported from Union Street north to Seneca Street from Foster Avenue East to Lowell Road.
Police say the suspect or suspects get into the house through a rear unlocked window overnight while residents are asleep. They say the suspect is after cash, laptops, cell phones and other electronic devices.
Police want residents to remember to shut and lock their windows, especially at night. Set alarms, turn on exterior lights and call police if they see anything suspicious.
Police say additional patrols are being put into place throughout the city.
