Police investigators are at the scene of what they are calling a suspicious death in the City of Poughkeepsie. Alexandra Weishaupt has more.
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- An elderly woman was found dead inside her City of Poughkeepsie home. Police say the woman's body was discovered on Underhill Avenue around 7 a.m. Wednesday.
Police received a 911 call from her caretaker who told them it looked like there was suspicious activity at the home. Underhill Avenue has been taped off between Beechwood Terrace and South Cherry Street as detectives investigate the scene.
The woman's name has not been released.
Police are now asking for anyone with information to come forward.
"Anyone who may have seen suspicious activity around that area, Underhill Avenue, Beechwood Terrace, South Cherry Street, anytime last night or early this morning is asked to call City of Poughkeepsie Police at 451-7577," said Detective Sergeant Matthew Clark.
