SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Business owners speak out on the recovery of the head of an Uncle Sam statue in downtown Troy.
Troy Police Detectives were able to find the head of "Uncle Rainbow" Thursday. They found the head in a home in Mechanicville.
Police have secured the head as evidence but have not yet arrested any suspects.
An Uncle Sam statue located in front of 81 4th Street was beheaded a few weeks ago. Troy business owners say they're looking forward to seeing the statue repaired.
"Those bad people that did this, whether they like or are fond of Uncle Sam or Troy or not, it's still the symbol of Troy, a symbol of the United States. They should have never done this," said Michael Lo Porto, owner of Lo Porto Ristorante Caffe.
Troy Police say they will make an effort to release the head as soon as possible so the statue can be fixed, but this process may take several weeks, depending on when an arrest is made.
