WYNANTSKILL, N.Y. -- Vanderheyden holds a tag sale to raise money and give back to the community.
Vanderheyden is a youth organization. They partnered with Best Cleaners to provide clothing to people in the community. Best Cleaners donated more than 5,000 items to Vanderheyden for the sale.
For $1.80, people were given a bag that they could fill to the top. According to organizers, the sale gives people the chance to get clothing they really need.
"We've got alot of families that came here today to buy school clothes to give to their children and their relatives so we're thrilled that we could be part of their effort to say, hey we're here to give to you too," said Karen Carpenter-Palumbo, President and CEO of Vanderheyden INC.
Proceeds from the tag sale will go towards programs for the children and families who use Vanderheyden's services. The organization is celebrating it's 180th year of service.
