A Troy restaurant celebrates 100 years on Thursday. Manory's on Congress Street opened in 1913 and is the oldest restaurant in the Collar City. YNN's Megan Cruz tells us how the restaurant will celebrate the milestone.
TROY, N.Y. -- A staple in the Collar City reaches a major milestone. Manory's Restaurant is celebrating 100 years.
The restaurant first opened in 1913 at the corner of Congress and Fourth streets in Troy. The owner says Manory's specialty is its breakfast, with a menu offering hundreds of items for the first meal of the day. And he says both the staff and the community have been key in their success.
"Troy is a very small town. Everyone knows everyone and it is a true old fashion community. We are very proud and happy to be a part of it," said owner Louis Marchese Jr.
"It is a nice friendly place to be. It is sort of like a big Cheers, with no beer," Tory resident Marty Keary said.
Keary says he remembers eating at Manory's back in the 40s as a boy. He says he now visits the restaurant every day, with the exception of weekends.
The restaurant is open Tuesday through Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
