MOHAWK, N.Y. -- Route 5 in Mohawk is finally reopening after a double train derailment forced the road to close.
Officials from the Department of Transportation announced CSX Transportation has hired a contractor to begin repair work. The work is set to begin this weekend, and the road will reopen on Tuesday.
When the road reopens, the DOT and the contractor will develop a schedule to complete the total reconstruction of the impacted area. The finished project is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
