MASSACHSUETTS -- Massachusetts State Attorney General Martha Coakley announced her bid for governor.
The North Adams native is currently in her second term as attorney general. She previously ran campaigned for U.S. senator, but lost to Scott Brown.
Coakley make the announcement on a video on her website. She plans to make an 18 city tour over the course of three days.
She will be visiting Pittsfield and North Adams on Tuesday and Wednesday.
In a statement, Coakley said the state needs to rebuild the economy in a way that gives everyone the opportunity to succeed. The also wants to launch new educations reforms so every child and adult has the skills to compete in a global economy.
Earlier this year, Governor Deval Patrick announced he would not seek another term.
