Vermont Police say they're working with Massachusetts State Police at the scene of some kind of situation in Bennington. YNN's Madeleine Rivera has been following the murder case of an 84-year-old North Adams woman. She joined us from Bennington with more on if the Massachusetts police activity in Vermont is connected to the case.
UNITED STATES -- Massachusetts State Police, Berkshire County police and the Bennington police department clustered outside an apartment building Thursday. With yellow tape lying on the ground and police walking in and out of the building, the scene seemed suspicious. Residents wondered the reason for the heightened police presence.
"I'm a little curious to see why threes police here from Massachusetts," said Bennington resident Erin Brady.
The Bennington Police Department says they're working with fellow law enforcement on a case, but they're not disclosing more information.
"It is not our investigation and we're working with that investigation to make sure that's done properly," said Lt. Lloyd Dean of the Bennington Police Department.
Though not confirmed by police, residents wondered if this investigation is connected to the homicide in North Adams. Ellen DePaoli, 84, was found dead in her home at 409 Walker Street Tuesday. The lack of information is frustrating for neighbors.
Police have sought the public's help to find DePaoli's missing car, a 2005 blue Ford Taurus.
For now, residents wonder if that someone who could be connected to the investigation is in Bennington.
