NEW YORK STATE -- Homeowners and businesses recovering from Tropical Storms Irene and Lee have until October 6 to apply for the first round of two state grants.
New York Rising and Recreate New York are designed to help flood victims that still have unmet needs, or to reimburse those who paid for damage out of pocket.
Governor Andrew Cuomo said he would like to have the grant application process wrapped up by the one year anniversary of Superstorm Sandy in October.
"We've been told for businesses it can be up to $50,000 and possibly even more, we haven't gotten exact figures for homeowners yet, but we encourage everyone to apply and see where it goes from there," said Jeff Palmer, SALT Case Manager.
Josh DeBartolo, Schoharie Recovery Director Josh DeBartolo added, "We're really encouraging applications in for that program as they're starting to send adjusters out to review cases."
If anybody has any questions about applying, they can reach out to the SALT office for help.
