GUILDERLAND, N.Y. -- Hundreds of people gathered at the YMCA Adventure Camp for the annual "Souped Up on Guilderland" event.
Numerous competitors made their best soup recipe, contending for different titles including favorite soup, chili, stew, vegetarian and most unique entrees.
For five dollars, those who attended could enter the tasting area for unlimited tastings.
The event also included a car show, featuring more than 100 cars, a small farmer's market, music and activities for kids. This year, half of the proceeds will go to the Guilderland YMCA.
Organizers say the event keeps bringing chefs back each year, either for revenge or to defend their title.
"They really want to win and then once they win, they want to defend their title every year, so they add things, add toppings, add extra things to their table, decorate more, put out their previous awards and things like that and really step their soups up every year," said Kathy Burbank, Guilderland Chamber of Commerce President.
YNN's own JoDee Kenney helped emcee the event and served as the guest of honor. She also handed out the awards for the soup and car competitions.
