ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Albany Pop Warner football program hosted its first pep rally to help celebrate the season and grow their community fan base.
The Pop Warner program has continued to serve as a positive outlet for local children, through both the football and cheerleading teams. Saturday's event, which included food, games and prizes, honored the kids and all of their hard work and success.
Albany County District Attorney David Soares says it's important to recognize when kids do the right thing.
"When our kids are doing bad things, when we hear about shootings and violence on the streets, there's enough attention on that. But when they're doing positive things, we don't do seem to see enough positive attention being directed towards them, so we're trying to change the dynamic of that and when we're talking about kids," Soares said.
