CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. -- Runners gathered Sunday to support local children battling cancer at Nick's Run to be Healed 5K in Clifton Park.
The run is part of Nick's Fight to be Healed, a foundation formed for Nick Cammarata who passed away from leukemia at age thirteen.
The run Sunday was in honor of four-year-old Parker Ragone, who was diagnosed at age two with leukemia and is still in treatment.
The 5K helps to support the community and raise awareness for childhood cancer.
"September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, so letting people know what families go through, that when the child is diagnosed with cancer, one parent has to stay at the hospital while the other may be at home, they lose income. So we financially help them," said Janine Cammarata, President of Nick's Fight to be Healed Foundation.
This was the fourth year for Nick's Run to be Healed.
