BOSTON, Mass. -- The Troy woman police say scammed a Boston bombing victims' charity out of hundreds of thousands of dollars has been indicted in Boston.
Audrea Gause, 26, was arrested in Troy back in July. Police say she faked having a traumatic brain injury and took $480,000 from the Boston bombing victims' charity One Fund Boston.
Officers in our area were tipped off about Gause and police were able to arrest her after they say she tried to pay a developer in cash to build her a home in the Capital Region. She was then brought back to Boston to face several charges and on Monday, she was indicted on larceny charges.
Police had said more arrests could come from this case because they think Guase had help forging medical documents to prove she was injured, when she, in fact, was not.
