STEPHENTOWN, N.Y. -- A Stephentown man has been charged after New York State Police found several unhealthy horses on his property.
Concerned residents contacted police about horses that appeared to be underfed. When troopers arrived at the home of Christopher Stevens, 26, they found four horses that recently lost a lot of weight.
Stevens agreed to donate two horses to another farm. However, the other two horses were removed from the property due to unsanitary conditions.
Three of the horses were checked by a veterinarian, and were determined to be emaciated and plagued with other health issues.
Stevens was charged with failure to provide proper sustenance. He was arraigned and is scheduled to appear in court again next week.
