SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- A Schenectady fire spread through a home right by Union College. Crews were called to 1045 University Place Friday evening for a fire.
There were some scary moments when firefighters first showed up. They first thought there was someone trapped inside. Luckily, that wasn't the case, but the people who live on the second floor can't stay there.
"There is a great deal of damage in the attic. Our deputy chief on the scene reported flames 50 feet in the air on their arrival. The attic was very heavily involved, so there is quite a bit of damage up there," said Schenectady Fire Chief Michael DellaRocco.
No one was hurt. There's no word yet on what caused the fire either.
