SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Crews responded to a fully involved fire at a two story home in Schenectady. It happened at 22 Mynderse Street around noon on Wednesday.
Officials say when they arrived at the scene, heavy smoke was coming from the back of the building. The fire chief says it is too early to know what caused the fire, but he did say the damage was extensive.
"Our initial fire attack was an interior attack. Firefighters were able to push the fire towards the rear of the building. It was clear that this fire involved first floor, second floor and attic," said Schenectady Fire Chief Michael DellaRocco.
An inspector will assess the damage and will then determine if the home is a total loss.
