MASSACHUSETTS -- Massachusetts moves a step closer to allowing early voting.
The Massachusetts House and Senate both advanced the bill for a constitutional amendment which would allow Massachusetts to join about 30 other states that permit some form of early voting.
The proposed amendment would allow Massachusetts residents to vote up to 10 days before a scheduled election.
It still needs final approval from lawmakers during the current session and again in a session that begins in 2015. If that happens, it would then need to be ratified by the state's voters.
