ALBANY, N.Y. -- Groups across the Capital Region participated in a campaign to raise money for children who can't afford college.
It is called 10/10 for 10, and it is a partnership between CDPHP, Habitat for Humanity, and Capital Region Sponsor-A-Scholar. The goal is to build affordable housing for needy families in Albany, and further assist a student in those families to graduate from college.
Participants donated $10 to walk for 10 minutes on Thursday. The money raised will benefit those students.
"There are students who come in to Capital Region Sponsor-a-Scholar and we'll get them all the way through to a college degree. So, we're helping the current generation and the next generation make their way out of poverty," said Bill Corbett, Capital Region Sponsor-A-Scholar President.
Sponsor-A-Scholar students also organized similar walks on their college campuses across New York.
