GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. -- Parkhurst Field in Gloversville will become a field of dreams on Saturday as hall of fame baseball players take to the diamond.
Local baseball buffs are hosting the event to commemorate the 100th anniversary of a famous exhibition game at the field that featured Chief Bender.
Jim Bouton, a former Yankees pitcher, and Jack McKeon, a World Series winning manager, will both participate in the game.
According to organizers, the game may be for fun, but they are still playing to win.
"The vintage game, it's not a recreation with actors, it's actually a very competitive game. They're going to be pitching 70 miles an hour. It's going to be competitive, they told us to bring our A-game," said David Karpinski, Gloversville Little League President.
A ceremony will be held after the game to dedicate a marker that will signify that baseball has been played at the field since 1906. For more information, head to www.fchof.com, or contact Mike Hauser at (518) 725-5565.
