Friday marks the deadline to register to vote in November's general election. YNN's Megan Cruz reports.
ALBANY, N.Y. -- If you have not registered to vote yet, Friday is the last chance to register if you want to vote in November.
To register, you can head to your county elections office, or mail in the forms found online at www.elections.ny.gov. Just make sure the envelope is postmarked October 11.
However, if you plan to cast an absentee ballot, you have until October 29 to register through the mail, or November 4 if you register in person.
Although election officials anticipate low voter turn out for this election year, they still say it is important to get out and vote.
"I would stress that this is the closest level of government to you as a citizen and you want to express your view as to who's making the choices in your community and your local government," said John Conklin, New York State Board of Elections spokesperson.
If you have any questions about the registration process, you can contact your county board of elections office. Head to www.elections.ny.gov for all of the contact information.
