MAYFIELD, N.Y. -- The plan to merge two districts in the Mohawk Valley was turned down by voters. However, the merger could still be moving forward.
The Mayfield Central School District Board of Education will meet Tuesday for its monthly board meeting, and will watch a presentation about the merger with the Northville Central School District.
The Mayfield community approved with merger with 529 votes for yes, and 206 votes for no. However, 457 voters in Northville said no to the merger, while just 206 voted yet.
Both districts are considering the merger as a way to cut costs.
