COLONIE, N.Y. -- It wasn't just about beating the opposite team during the Shaker vs. Colonie game Friday night. It was also about fighting to beat breast cancer.
Colonie High School's iCare program put together a fundraiser ahead of this weekend's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. Students sold ribbons, bracelets and even had a balloon race to raise money for awareness.
"Our main goal this year is bringing the community together and we thought the best way to do that is to unite against a common enemy, that affects everybody in the community, so we chose cancer to fight against this year," said Rachel Tenney, iCare Spokesperson.
The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk is scheduled for this Sunday at 10 a.m. in Albany's Washington Park.
