WATERVLIET, N.Y. -- A $16,000 donation saved eight after school programs within the Watervliet City School District.
The Arsenal Business and Technology Partnership presented the district with a $16,000 check on Tuesday to restore eight of the program for kindergarten through 12th grade.
The programs were eliminated from the budget at the beginning of the school year. According to the superintendent, the district is grateful for the donation.
"We are able to restore five clubs in both buildings, things such as our Delta Force who sang, our marching band at the high school. At the elementary school we are able to bring back some of our student council, our yearbook clubs, ski club, so its a pretty diverse group," said Dr. Lori Caplan, Superintendent of Schools.
Two days of late afternoon bus runs will also be restored to offer transportation for elementary students participating in after school activities.
