FORT PLAIN, N.Y. -- People in Fort Plain are still recovering from this past summer's floods are getting a little help from the community.
The American Red Cross teamed up with the Fulton-Montgomery Long Term Recovery Committee for a second round of clean up in the village.
Volunteers were also in Sprakers, replacing windows at a home still recovering from when tropical storms Irene and Lee hit back in 2011.
With the colder weather moving in, workers in fort plain are focusing on getting homes sealed up and the heat back on.
One victim we talked to, a contractor himself has been slowly putting his own house back together while lending a hand to his neighbors.
"In actuality, I'm probably the only house that has sheetrock on the walls and heat in the house so our goal is to get others to this point, let's get heat on and power on," said homeowner Ken Bridgewater.
"It's really critical, it's really sad because when we go home to warm houses these people don't have heat and open floors aren't what you want to see before winter," said Pastor Gail Adamoschek, Director of Volunteer Center.
If you'd like to volunteer you can visit the volunteer center at Haslett park in the Village, or call 518-705-8695.
